About Us
It Started With a Connection
The Lutheran Digital Mission League (LDML) began when two Christian brothers connected through social media within the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. They shared a conviction: as more people turn to the digital world with their questions about God, Christianity, and the Church, Lutherans have an opportunity to meet them there with the beauty and truth of the Christian faith.
Today, LDML brings together clergy, church workers, and laity from across the Church for faithful digital witness by using new tools without compromising timeless truth and reaching people online with the goal of connecting them to Word and Sacrament in the local congregation.
The Lutheran Digital Mission League exists to bring confessional Christian media to the whole world.
Our Beliefs
The Lutheran Digital Witness League proclaims and promotes the historic Christian faith as confessed by the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
We believe, teach, and confess that which is found within the Brief Statement of the Doctrinal Position of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (1932) and furthermore hold to The Book of Concord of 1580 because (in quia) it is a true and faithful exposition of the Word of God, being the correct exposition of biblical doctrine.
This includes: The Three Ecumenical Creeds (Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian), The [Unaltered] Augsburg Confession, The Apology of the Augsburg Confession, The Smalcald Articles, The Treatise on the Power and Primacy of the Pope, Luther’s Small Catechism, Luther’s Large Catechism, and The Formula of Concord.
Accordingly, all teaching, publishing, and media produced by the Lutheran Digital Mission League seeks to remain faithful to Holy Scripture and these confessions, proclaiming Christ and directing people to His gifts of Word and Sacrament in the local congregation.
Our Mission
To advance a faithful, confessional Lutheran witness in the digital world by equipping clergy, church workers, and the laity to create beautiful, compelling, and confessionally Lutheran media that proclaims Christ, strengthens the Church, and connects people to Word and Sacrament in faithful local congregations.
Our Vision
To see the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod carry the pure Word and light of Christ into every corner of the world, including the digital mission field, equipping the faithful here & now while reaching tomorrow's Lutherans today.
Matthew Gehne,
Co-Founder
Matthew Gehne grew up in a Christian household. His father, Rev David Gehne is the head pastor at Trinity Lutheran in Racine Wisconsin. Growing up as a PK (Pastor’s Kid), Matthew developed a firm foundation in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, which he carried with him through four years of active duty service in the United States Marine Corps and as he pursued a four-year bachelor’s degree at University Wisconson-Madison. Matthew now lives in Middle Tennessee and is a faithful member at Our Savior Lutheran Church. In his vocation, he is a full-time firefighter and also creates Lutheran content across several online platforms. His passion for sharing the Lutheran faith through apologetics and theology on social media motivated him to co-found the Lutheran Digital Mission League as he seeks to further reach his generation with all the tools available.
Steven Policastro,
Co-Founder
Steven Policastro grew up in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, where he first learned that God created the Earth in six days and that Jesus died to save him from his sins at the age of four years old. Upon completing Lutheran school in twelfth grade, Steven pursued a double bachelor’s degree at Stetson University in Political Science and Business Management. As an active part of his local church in college, Steven was a bold witness for Christ on and off campus. Steven lives in Central Florida and is part of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (SELC). In his full-time vocation, Steven engages in making Christian education accessible by creating biblical worldview curriculum and engaging in public policy research. His passion for inviting people into local parish life motivated him to co-found the Lutheran Digital Mission League as he seeks to further engage those in his generation and the next with the truth of God’s Word.
